Peachesz Apple Sausage Cheese Pie

"I have hade variations of this since I was i kid.I used to make it in crepes then graduated to pies. Use swiss cheese instead of cheddar and becomes a creamy rich variation.Use Blue cheese instead of cheddar and its tangy sweet combo will melt in your mouth.Use American Cheese for smooth texture.This works for breakfast, a hearty winter lunch or a filling dinner special. It can be served with sour cream."

  • Directions.
  • Preheat oven to 450.
  • According to directions, prepare half of pie crust and place in 9" pie pan.
  • Flute edge and prick bottom.
  • Combine sugar, cinnamon, salt, lemon zest and flour in a large mixing bowl.
  • Cook pork sausage and grill onions till brown, drain mix on absorbent paper.
  • 6.Arrange apple slices in layers with sausage over bottom crust, sprinkling it all with the flour mixture.
  • 7.Layer into high mound,Sprinkle with cheese,lemon juice and dot with butter.

  • 8. Combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt; cut in butter with a pastry blender till mixture resembles coarse meal.
  • 9.Crumble brown sugar mixture over apples.
  • 10.Take remaining pastry roll out flat, cut into s into1/2' strips place over filling weaving over under. Fold edges under bottom crust to seal.
  • 11.Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce oven to 375 degrees for 45-50 minutes till apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
