Ingredients: 4 cups bread cubes (preferably from day-old bread cut in 3/4 inch pieces); 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted; 1 tablespoon olive oil (add more if you would like the croutons to be more tender); 1/2 teaspoon onion powder; 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder; 1/4 teaspoon seasoning salt, such as Lawry's; 1/8 teaspoon fresh ground pepper

4 cups bread cubes (preferably from day-old bread cut in 3/4 inch pieces)
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon olive oil (add more if you would like the croutons to be more tender)
¹⁄₂ teaspoon onion powder
¹⁄₂ teaspoon garlic powder
¹⁄₄ teaspoon seasoning salt, such as Lawry's
¹⁄₈ teaspoon fresh ground pepper

directions

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
Toss the bread cubes with the butter, olive oil, onion powder, garlic powder, seasoned salt, and pepper in a medium bowl.
Spread the cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake until lightly browned about 20 minutes. Let cool. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.

I have made this recipe twice now and they are great. I use all olive oil and bake at 350 deg for 18 min. turn at 10 min. DH eats them as a snack, they go quickly. DELICIOUS!

These were great and so easy to make. Great in soup or salad or to just eat as a snack. I may try all olive oil next time just to make them a little healthier.

this was so easy and delicious. followed the recipe exactly. husband, MIL, and kids ate more salad just to have more croutons!! we've been snacking on them as we clean up dinner. yummy!

Great recipe! Sooooo easy, and the perfect flavor combination of seasonings. I made this exactly as posted, no changes. Now I have no more guilt over throwing away the "heels" or days-old bread---I can make something tasty with these instead, and my relatives and friends enjoy receiving a little package of the croutons as well. Very tasty! I used week-old sourdough that was starting to go stale, so it was a little crumbly, but worked OK. I skipped the butter and doubled the oil instead (plus a tiny bit extra) and added a sprinkle of Italian seasoning with the other spices. This was a great way to use up some old bread. Thanks for sharing!
