This was not an extraordinary sandwich, but it was good. As good as any ham and cheese sandwich on toasted buttered bread would be. I think perhaps the egg to milk ratio was a little high on the milk, so my bread didnt get very "frenchy". I did use italian bread, so at least is crisped up and didnt get soggy. It was a good grilled cheese with ham sandwich. But I will mention, I did dip the sandwich in Red Raspberry preserves (as I have had on a Monte Cristo) and it was yummy. (Tried Apricot too but didnt like as much)

Wow! What a delicious sandwich. I was looking for something different to make for lunch and I'm so glad I ran into this recipe. My husband and almost 3 yr old son loved it also. My husband asked me if I was going to make such an awesome sandwich, how come I didn't make more? I will be next time. Thanks for a great recipe!

These are really easy and blend the flavors well. We tried diagonally sliced Italian bread (for a substantial sandwich) and Dijon mustard with deli ham, turkey, and swiss. To make sure the sandwiches didn't fall apart when turned to brown, we toasted the bread lightly (400* oven for 4 min + 2 min) before assembling the sandwich. Great with tomato soup!

Love these sandwiches! We have a deli near our job that serves them too so I just introduced them to some coworkers who are now loving them as well. I use dijon mustard and a thin smear of apricot preserves on the ones I make at home but I've seen it made with strawberry also. The deli serves theirs with honey mustard which is nice also. The deli just makes regular french toast, assembles into the Monte Cristo and grills a bit to heat through. Awesome recipe!
